Where are your products manufactured?
The manufacturing countries of Muurla's products vary by product, depending on the production method and material.
All birch veneer products (such as trays, Chop & Serve boards, coasters, and Kantajat) are manufactured in Finland.
Most of our enamel products are manufactured in Europe.
Our glass products are manufactured in both Europe and Asia.
The enamel product broke on its surface, is this normal? Can a broken enamel product still be used?
Enamel is a glaze and can break if subjected to, for example, a hard impact. If the enamel breaks, the inner steel of the product may start to rust. If the enamel glaze on the inside of the product is broken, we do not recommend using the product anymore. Small shards of glaze can detach from broken enamel into food or drink.
Are enamel products dishwasher safe?
Pads are not dishwasher safe. All other Muurla enamel products are dishwasher safe.
Can an enamel product be put in the microwave?
Enamel products are not suitable for microwave ovens due to the steel core of the enamel product.
Can an enamel product be used on an induction hob?
Muurlan enamel products are suitable for all hob types, as well as open flame, grill and oven.
Can steel spatulas be used with enamel?
We recommend using wooden or plastic utensils with enamelware. Steel utensils may leave grey scratches on the enamel.
Are enamel products food safe?
Muurlan enamel products are food safe; no harmful substances leach from the products.
Can you drink hot beverages from an enamel mug?
Yes, you can. Enamel mugs can be used for both hot and cold beverages.
Do the saucepan handle / pot handles / lid get hot during use?
The body of enamelware is made of carbon steel, which conducts heat well. This ensures even heat distribution during cooking but can also cause the handle/lid to heat up.
We recommend using pot holders or oven mitts.
I burned the food to the bottom of the saucepan/pot, how do I get the item clean?
If food burns onto the bottom of the pot, the product should first be thoroughly hand-washed before dishwashing, so that the dirt does not bake onto the enamel. If burnt-on dirt does not come off with normal washing, we recommend soaking the product overnight in water to which a few teaspoons of baking soda and a drop of dish soap have been added.
Are your trays/cutting boards dishwasher safe?
Our current production trays and cutting boards are dishwasher safe.
What material are the trays made of?
Muurlan trays and cutting boards are made from Finnish birch veneer in Finland.
How can I recycle an enamel product?
Enamel products can be recycled with metal waste.
How can I recycle a tray or cutting board?
You can recycle the tray and cutting board with energy waste or mixed waste.
I own an old Muurla product, could you tell me its value?
Unfortunately, we do not comment on the current resale value of our old products. The value is determined by region and product demand.
